MACC-II aerosol feature in French science magazine

aerosols3200x1805_40km_small.jpgMACC-II aerosol research is featured in this month's issue of "Pour la Science", one of the main general science popularization publications in France (and French version of "Scientific American"). Olivier Boucher and colleagues present in very general terms an overview of atmospheric aerosols and of their many impacts: visibility, meteorology, climate.... They provide for instance the example of pink(!) snow observed in March 2010 in the Stavropol/Krasnodar area in Russia (the colour is due to snow mixing with particles of clay and dust of Saharan origin). The paper indicates how operations developing in MACC-II allow to better characterise, understand and predict aerosol distributions. The full publication can be found here.
